​版画は美術の重要な一端を担う表現方法のひとつとして世界に広まりました。版画には原版の素材とその技法によって特徴があります。

モノクロ版画は原版に描かれた図像のマチエールと摺りの技術が相まってインクの美しさが発揮される紙の美術。21世紀に入りそのような版画を見る機会がめっきり少なくなり、暮らしのなかで日常空間を彩り気軽に楽しめるアートとして美術市場から消えかかっているように見受けられます。

本展はGallery O2がコレクションしてきたなかから白と黒をテーマにヨーロッパで活躍する現代作家たちの版画を展示いたします。

Printmaking involves a variety of techniques. Each of them has its own characteristic elements, depending on the material of the plate, and the delicate matière of the image depicted overlaps to create an expression unique to printmaking. Black-and-white prints have a rich image on paper, and the shading of the ink further enhances the unique appeal of prints.

Until the beginning of the 21st century, printmaking had spread around the world as an important form of artistic expression. In recent years, however, there are fewer opportunities to see attractive prints, and the art of printmaking, which can be comfortably enjoyed in everyday life, seems to be disappearing from the market.

This exhibition focuses on the theme of black and white from the gallery collections of artists who are active in Europe, with the aim of conveying the appeal of prints.
