ギャラリスト池田陽子
1976年～1987年 東京の銀座において近現代美術専門のアートギャラリーを経営。
1988年～2005年 英国・ロンドンと東京にてアートディーラー及び美術館展のコーディネーターとして活動。
2005年秋、Gallery O2を設立。“手と知から生み出す美しき行為”として、作家の手しごとから生まれた美を幅広く紹介。
2016年 北陸の古都 金沢に拠点を移す。
以降、20世紀の欧米美術をはじめ、日本の現代美術・工芸にフォーカスした展覧会で若手作家からベテラン作家まで幅広く紹介。
とりわけ先端の工芸作家たちにスポットをあて、伝統から受け継がれる未来的創造の世界を披露することに力を注ぐ。
作品展示にとどまらず、Gallery O2はプロフェッショナルな作家たちが更なる研鑽を積む探求の場でもあることを願い、継続的な勉強会を主宰。先輩作家、美術館キュレーター、評論家を招聘して、参加作家とのディスカッションを行っている。
ほか、国内外各地のギャラリーのキュレーションやアドバイス活動も行う。
Yoko Ikeda is the curator and director of Gallery O2, bringing 47 years of experience and expertise in the art world. She managed a gallery specializing in modern and contemporary art in the Ginza district of Tokyo from 1976 to 1988, and thereafter as an independent art dealer in London, England, and Tokyo until 2005. In November 2005, she opened Gallery O2 in Tokyo before moving in 2016 to Kanazawa, a city rich in history and traditions as well as arts and crafts. Gallery O2 showcases Japanese contemporary artworks and kogei, highlighting artists with unique talents and cutting-edge perspectives. In addition, Ms Ikeda is very active in the new media and contemporary art community, curating exhibitions for other galleries, as well as conducting study groups and forums bringing together museum curators, academics, art critics, and artists.
